Rayna DuBose: Turn Your Life Story into a Motivational Speaking Career
"You're a success if you get up in the morning and go to bed at night... and in between you do what you want to do." - Bob Dylan
One of the purposes of The Intrigue Institute is to showcase and celebrate intriguing individuals who are doing what they are good at - for good.
Our upcoming guest experts are all SerenDestineers who have turned what they care about into a "RITRAB" (Rising Tide Raising All Boats) message, mission and movement that is adding value for all involved.
We offer these tele-seminars for free so everyone can access them. The premise and purpose of the Intrigue Institute is we need an antidote to the media's frequent focus on man's inhumanity to man.
We here at The Intrigue Institute believe we do not need to hear more about murders and mayhem.
We need to be reminded there are people of character acting with integrity; thought leaders who are initiating activities that improve our quality of life and celebrate all that's right with the world.
Our interviews explore the back-story of how our guest experts discovered what they were meant to do - and how they operationalized it so we can learn from their example. We focus on their inspiring, real-life stories and specific how-to's you can use to find and fulfill your own SerenDestinyTM and lead the life you're meant to live.
8 pm ET, Thurs. Feb. 8th – Rayna DuBose: Turn Your Life Story into a Motivational Speaking Career
What started as a dream in 2001 quickly turned into a nightmare for Rayna DuBose, a highly recruited student who was granted a full athletic scholarship to play Division I Women's Basketball at Virginia Tech.
During Spring Break of 2002, Rayna was struck with a deadly bacterial disease known as meningococcal meningitis.
She spent 96 days in a coma in the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, with collapsed organs, non-functioning kidneys, liver problems, and worst of all no blood circulation, to her limbs.
All four of her limbs were amputated and she became a bi-lateral amputee.
After months of pain, surgeries and therapy, Rayna returned to Virginia Tech in the summer of 2003 to return to college life and has since graduated with a degree in Consumer Studies.
Rayna has received the Most Courageous Award at the Men's Final Four in New Orleans, the Wilma Rudolph Award, the 2009 McDonalds Athlete of the Day Award for the Military Paralympics, and
has been interviewed on HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.
As a motivational speaker, Rayna shares her inspiring story about never giving up and is committed to spreading the smile she wears everyday with others. In this interview, she'll be sharing her lessons-learned on how you can turn your life story into a career as a motivational speaker.
